Turning Audio / Range Compression on or off

Audio compression evens out the volume level heard through your system by decreasing loud audio and increasing the level of quieter audio. This is useful if you frequently have to adjust volume while listening to sound on your system—or if louder sections of audio are interrupting people nearby.

To set Range Compression:

When enabled, Range Compression applies to all audio sources. When your system is powered off, Range Compression returns to the default setting for each source.
  1. Power on your system to the DVD, AUX, TV, CBL-SAT or VCR source
  2. On the remote control, press the Settings button
  3. Scroll down to Range Compression
Tip: If this option does not appear, Audio Processing needs to be set to User Adjustable. For more info, see Changing Audio Processing settings, then try again
  4. Scroll right to select the current setting
  5. Scroll up or down arrow to select a setting.
