QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds offer all the same features as their predecessor, QuietComfort Earbuds II, plus breakthrough Bose Immersive Audio and the addition of Immersive Audio settings for Custom Modes. Other new features include Snapdragon Sound certification, using hi-res audio and low latency codec, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, and Google Fast Pair. QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds also feature a new metallic finish on earbuds, as well as a new notch/key alignment feature for stability bands that makes them easier to swap in and out.

Immersive Audio allows you to hear audio as if it were coming from beyond your QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, thereby allowing for a more spacious, natural listening experience. Your music and other audio will have a wide sound stage in front and to the sides, just as if you were listening to a pair of stereo speakers and seated at the sweet spot between them.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds utilise both passive and active noise reduction technologies. Passive noise reduction is similar to when you wear earplugs; there is a physical blockage preventing some of the sound from entering your ear. This is achieved through the earbud design with materials such as silicone eartips, and the acoustic seal created by having a proper fit. For active noise cancellation, your earbuds use sophisticated proprietary electronics with microphones both inside and outside the earbuds. The electronics system senses the sound in almost any environment and then measures, compares and reacts – instant by instant – to produce an opposing cancellation signal.

The controls on the left and right earbud surfaces are the same, and they include:

• Swipe up or down for volume control

• Tap once to play or pause content

• Tap twice in quick succession to skip forward

• Tap three times in quick succession to skip back

• Press and hold the earbud surface to access a Shortcut. The default Shortcut function on both buds is to toggle back and forth between Quiet Mode (full noise cancelling) and Aware Mode (hear outside sound). You can add additional noise cancelling modes at sound levels between Quiet and Aware using the Bose app. The Shortcut on one or both earbuds can also be customised in the Bose app to access a mobile device’s built-in voice assistant

• Tap once to accept an incoming call

• Tap twice in quick succession to end a call, or decline an incoming call

Yes. The Single-bud Use feature allows you to take calls and listen to music using one bud. It will also seamlessly switch between your earbuds, and switches automatically if one of the earbuds runs out of battery or disconnects from Bluetooth®.

Yes. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds have passed IPX4 testing, which means they are protected against sweat and splashing water from any angle. The interior of the charging case is resistant to water or sweat that may remain on the buds when they are placed inside for charging; however, it is not recommended that the outside of the case be exposed to water.

You should take some time to experiment with different eartip and stability band sizes to arrive at a combination that suits you, providing a gentle seal and a comfortable, stable experience. Keep in mind that it’s common for left and right ears to vary slightly in shape, so sizes may not match from left to right. Also, eartip and stability band sizes may be mixed and matched (such as using a size small eartip with a #3 stability band). If you find that you need alternate sizes, extra small and extra-large eartips and stability bands are available through Bose Support.

There are two lights: an Earbud status light inside the case between the earbuds, and a Charging Case status light on the outside of the case. Earbud status light (inner):

• Slowly blinks blue – Ready to connect

• Solid blue (5 seconds) – Connected

• Blinks white 2 times – Device list cleared

• Solid white (5 seconds) – Earbuds are fully charged

• Solid amber (5 seconds) – Earbuds are charging

• Blinks white 2 times – Reboot complete

• Blinks white 3 times, repeated – Updating earbud software

• Blinks amber and white – Error, contact Bose customer service

Charging Case status light (outer):

• Solid white – Case is fully charged (100%) and plugged in

• Solid white (5 seconds) – Case is charged (34% to 99%)

• Solid amber (5 seconds) – Case has low charge, less than one full earbud charge remaining (10% to 33%)

• Blinks amber 2 times – Case needs to charge (Less than 10%)

• Solid amber – Case is charging

• Blinks white 3 times, repeated – Updating case software

• Blinks amber and white – Error, contact Bose customer service

Yes. Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds have an adaptive microphone system that allows you to use them during calls when connected to any smartphone. In addition to traditional calls, the earbuds work with many apps that use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), such as Teams, Zoom, or FaceTime. The microphone system adapts to your environment to isolate your voice from competing background noises and wind. In addition, self-voice (adjustable in the Bose app settings) allows you to hear yourself naturally, as if you weren’t wearing earbuds at all, so you can monitor the volume of your voice and minimise the effects of speaking while wearing earbuds.

Yes. The Ultra Earbuds have the Bluetooth multipoint feature allowing them to connect to two source devices at the same time. This is a recent update as of July 2024, so be sure to set up your earbuds with the Bose app to receive software updates.

Snapdragon Sound refers to an audio and software processing infrastructure developed by Qualcomm, focusing on robust and low latency Bluetooth connectivity and leveraging the aptX Adaptive codec. AptX Adaptive will “adapt” the audio quality seamlessly and continuously based on the strength back to the source’s device to maintain a good wireless connection and avoid audio dropouts. This means that for a great wireless connection, you can get the highest possible audio quality up to and including “lossless” audio. The normal sampling rate applicable in your Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds is 44.1 kHz and will adapt up to 48.1 kHz when “high resolution” listening. The codec also has a low latency mode, aka “Gaming Mode”. Just as with audio quality, the codec will “adapt” to achieve the best (lowest) latency possible given the current wireless conditions.

Snapdragon Sound is applicable only to Android users with Snapdragon Sound Certified devices.

Google Fast Pair is a technology developed by Google to expedite the initial pairing process between source devices and headphones. Android users (OS 6.0 or newer) will enjoy the rapid setup Google Fast Pair has to offer by simply turning on their headphones and selecting the Google pair pop-up window on their Android device (Android device location services and Bluetooth must be set to “on”).

World-class noise cancellation

To deliver our best in-ear noise cancellation, QC Ultra Earbuds utilise both active and passive noise reduction technologies, employing a sophisticated proprietary approach for Active Noise Cancelling (ANC).

CustomTune technology for sound tailored to you

Proprietary Bose CustomTune technology takes your listening experience to another level by analysing your ears and automatically adapting the sound and active noise cancellation to their unique shape. By calibrating the audio and noise cancellation precisely to the acoustic properties of each ear canal, your music arrives at your eardrum with its original balance intact, resulting in better audio and more powerful noise cancellation.

Comfort and stability

The Bose Fit Kit features nine potential combinations of eartips and stability bands to help you find the ideal fit for each ear. Soft silicone umbrella-shaped eartips provide all-day comfort while the stability bands hug the contours of your ears snugly and securely.

The Bose app maximises everything your earbuds have to offer, ensuring optimal functionality with regular software updates and access to the latest features.

Why buy from Bose

¹Testing conducted by Bose in June 2023 using production-representative Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and a variety of music tracks using A2DP Bluetooth audio streaming at RSSI signal strength of 75 dB. Volume set to a playback loudness of 75 dB, 3-band EQ set to zero, in Quiet Mode (full noise cancellation). With Immersive Audio off, playback time was up to 6 hours before battery depletion. With Immersive Audio on, playback time was up to 4 hours before battery depletion. Battery life varies based on settings and usage.

²Testing conducted by Bose in July 2023 by inserting production-representative Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds with battery depleted (to the point of no audio playback) into a fully charged Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds charging case and charging earbuds to 100%, then resuming audio playback until battery depletion. Testing resulted in three (3) complete charging cycles by the case before a full charge was no longer possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Music to my ears So glad I purchased these, my headphones are fantastic and now buds equally as good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for what I wanted them for I purchased these about a month ago and they are everything I wanted them to be: Amazing sound particularly for jazz; and noise cancelling is exactly that. I am not tech savvy so there are many features I will probably never use. Music is a love of my life and to be able to hear this without external noise is exactly what I wanted particularly on long flights. The only quibble I would have is similar to someone else's comment that Bose should include all sizes with these earbuds. I needed to buy the extra to enable the extra small for my right ear. No big drama but Bose should include all sizings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds V1 so far,so good So far, so good! Arrived in a timely fashion and well packaged. Connected easily to my phone, not used them enough but early indication is that I'm not experiencing the heavily reported connection drop issues. The sound quality is brilliant and the noise cancellation works very well, so well the wife had to come and stand in my line of sight to get my attention.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great with one shocking part I have been in the BOSE & in the APPLE ecosystems for years. I decided to change my earbuds from Apple to Bose. The Bose buds are very comfortable and look great. The sound is typical Bose - deep base etc. You are either a fan or you are not. The EQ works well in reducing the base when needed. I love the sound. Now the shocker!. The case is made of cheap plastic, the lid is flimsy, and no mag charging. Come on Bose this is not good enough for such an expensive premium product. You have premium buds in a case that even TEMU would be embarrassed by the poor quality. You can do better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Earbuds but missing 2 silicone eartips Great sound quality though a little disappointed in the bluetooth range & the fact 2 eartips were missing (it was a refurbished product but I'd still expect all eartips to be included as I purchased direct from Bose)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent sound quality I bought refurbished QC Ultra and the immersive features work well with my Samsung S23 Ultra. Only criticism so far is case charging light only shows "charging" or "full". Previous models had a row of lights to indicate charge status. NC is good, although there is an ambient hiss rather than the dead vacuum of previous models.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Real deal review I find that the fit in ear is very comfortable but they’re prone to falling out. I had originally purchased for my motorbike to use the sound deadening feature for on road music but their a tad too large and digs into my ear but for walking good but the right ear pops continually and both do when I run. Disappointing to say the least. I could have spent far less and got same without the popping! Ok I could run without that feature but I don’t like the outside noise. My choice. I will be selling them

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Sound, charging issues Sound quality and noise isolation are fantastic when they work. Connection to the iPhone can have issues and at times the earbuds do not charge in their case. I charged them overnight and then got them out on an international flight to find both ear buds were flat! The case was charged and managed to connect them to the app while in the case which then allowed them to charge. You must confirm they are charging in the case with the app or they will not charge. This seems to be the only way to get them to charge. Also so have to connect to the app prior to removing earbuds form case to make all the features work

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product and service Terrible product. Broke twice. Terrible customer service and after sales care.
Date published: 2025-04-20
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn’t even work for a minute, twice. Extremely unhappy and will never be buying from Bose again. I’m autistic and rely heavily and noise cancellation to navigate the world, so Bose seemed perfect with their high quality noise cancellation. After having tried the quiet comfort earbuds twice (first pair failed due to one becoming much much quieter, spent ages trying to get a replacement out of Bose only for the second pair to fail within the first two months over the same reason AGAIN); and from then getting the ultra quiet comfort earbuds this year (which turned out even worse than the others: had a very sharp high pitched piercing crackling noise in the left earbud immediately, as soon and I turned them on for the first time. Somehow got these replaced too with just as much, id not more difficultly than the last time. And guess what? That replacement was EXACTLY the same as the first pair, and after all this I had to fight extremely ely hard to get a refund). So, after all this (and some more awful experiences with Boses most recent headset (earcups falling apart after less than 5 months and with it sounding like tiny screws are rattling around in both), I would advice one to look elsewhere for a product. I really tired to keep using Bose because yes, the noise cancellation is amazing and I do desperately need that as an AuDHDer living with intense sensory overload, but what’s the point if I spent over $1000 dollars and still don’t get a working product after trying 5 did devices? The stress and upset and increased difficulty this has caused on my life has been very hard to work through. Overall I’m just sad that Boses products can’t reliably help people or just work. Please save your money for another device elsewhere :(
