Short battery life

If the battery charge level drains at a faster rate than expected, try the following:

When disconnected from a Wi-Fi network and a power connection, if the speaker is not playing audio, it will turn off after 20 minutes of inactivity.

When connected to a Wi-Fi network, the speaker will enter a standby mode (instead of turning off completely) after 20 minutes of inactivity. When in standby mode, the speaker is available for use via the configured virtual personal assistant (VPA), such as the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

Determine if the battery has been fully charged.

For the maximum expected battery life, be sure the battery is fully charged. For more info see, Checking the remaining battery charge.

Use of the speaker at extreme volumes or distances will reduce its playback time.

Playback time may be as little as three hours if the speaker is used continuously at high a volume level while streaming audio over Wi-Fi. The distance from the Wi-Fi access point also affects the speaker's battery life. To increase the playback time, reduce the volume level and/or reduce the distance from the Wi-Fi access point.

The rechargeable battery will drain slightly when the speaker is not in use.

If Alexa or Google Assistant is linked to your speaker, it will continue listening for voice requests in standby mode. When the speaker is fully charged, you can expect up to 24 hours of battery life with the speaker in standby mode and disconnected from its charger. Standby mode uses a small amount of power and could eventually deplete the battery if the speaker is not reconnected to power to recharge it. So, if you’re done listening to your speaker and don’t need voice assistant functionality, press and hold the Power button for two seconds to fully power off the speaker and conserve its remaining battery life. The speaker will not appear in the Bose Music app when it is fully powered off.
